MISSISSIPPI CERTIFIED – FINALLY

Last week the State Board of Architecture had a ceremony to recognize new professionals in three fields;
Newly registered architects, new landscape architects and newly certified interior designers. The last is finally here.
Mississippi now has a title act for professional designers. One may only call themselves a Mississippi Certified Interior Designer if the state has accepted them as such. The requirements are: a bachelor’s degree in interior design from an accredited university, have a minimum of 2 years experience under an architect or certified interior designer, and have passed the set of exams known as NCIDQ, National Council on Interior Design Qualification. Finally Mississippi passed this law! And we were given our certificates and recognition for this in this ceremony at the Old Capitol Museum in downtown Jackson. It truly was nice to be recognized with my other professional designers. Thank you to the committee that worked so many years for this law.
