In the end, although we had to make the space half the size we had intended, it turned out to be quite charming. It has a clean and fresh look, a contemporary style with a few more “grounding” touches. I used a wood look floor that has a light gray wash . The moulding around the windows and walls is simply flat wood moulding with a white wash. But the banquets and chairs are very colorful with red, apple green and bright yellow. A gray washed cork tile with green border is used in the front area. We may change that one thing in the next Fresh Market. Looks great. But not as easy to clean as expected. Most everything else will transfer to the next Fresh Market Cafe’.

Our final design came out just the way we wanted – Fresh and charming. –Fresh Market Cafe”

They are vinyl custom mural wallcoverings. And we added playful verbage…..just for fun.

With Fresh Market Cafe in Tupelo, I was dealing with a MESS of an existing building. So our first job was to measure it and photograph it (yuk). _A very greasy, grimy, dirty job, but we did get it done. Next– get it into AutoCAD and begin space planning.

It was a scary scene reaching over and under all the old spaces from the original Bumper’s fast food space. Not easy. I”m showing you the “good” shot. AAAHHH the glamorous life of a designer…… But I don’t mind. Now comes the fun part.

We are completing the FRESH MARKET cafe’ in Tupelo, Ms this week. I’m very excited about their opening. We have gone through a lot to get there, but it has been a great experience. We were given a building that, in any other circumstance, would be a tear down situation. It was a mess! A big one. It had been a fast food restaurant and ignored for a year or two after it closed. I will tell you about the phases of this exciting but crazy project. This first photo, if I can find it, is the way we found the building.

This is actually showing the “good” side of the building.

We did reuse the structure. Gutted the interior and started over. So I suppose one would call this an adoptive reuse? Maybe not. But it is a very good “redo”.

We recently were published in a book called “SMALL STORES”. It is a coffee table type book of small retail stores from all over the world! They are from New York, Paris, New Delhi, Chili, and on and on….. and ours. We submitted Lakeland Optical here in the Fondren area, Jackson, MS. It was accepted and I am thrilled. It goes in book stores this week.

This is the cover. We are on page 72. a two page spread. So exciting!

: Latest retail – tight budget, plenty of charm

This was a fun, quick retail boutique here in Jackson. We worked on a tight budget, and we gave it a lot of charm. There was nothing there at all, not even a floor. The client is very happy. I’ll show you a few more photos when we get the final shots from our photographer.

We seem to be right on the mark with the color schemes we are doing. I am seeing colors like Raspberry, Orchid, Fuschia, Cranberry – lots of berry colors. —Really fun touches and accents for a taupe and black basic scheme. I love it! We are finishing a retail shop, the “Dress Boutique”, in Jackson that will have this scheme with a large black and taupe leopard print pouf in the center. We have raspberry tall back slipper chairs in front of shiney black accent walls, and a sophisticated taupe and pearl striped wallcovering as you enter the shop. I think it is going to be a beguiling(great word) and chic little shop. Opens in February.
