New colors.  New schemes.  New patterns.  What I am seeing are wild patterns, loose and organic.  In this one I have added a more geometric pattern with it to hold it down and give it stability.  The colors are sophisticated and fresh.  Charcoal grays and paler grays are my neutrals.   I’ll show you soon where these will be utilized.  Upscale and fun. Yellows, grays, charcoal, off whites….simple.

Yes, SNAKES!  The latest and hottest look for your interiors is a snake-skin print.  Whether it is vinyl, wool, or the real think(ugh), the look of a snake is it.  And guess what.  I like it…..a lot…..  It can be so beautiful and so elegant.

Here is a blue snake pattern.  I see it as pillows or on an ottoman.  Very pretty.

And crocodile skin….also Yiks!

But so very elegant and rough at the same time.  We are using this one in a hotel lobby in Austin, Texas.  It will be perfect.  It has just a subtle reference to an upscale cowboy boot.  and look at these colors and texture.  Can’t beat it.

You can add just a throw pillow and it will give you an updated look.  Very nice.

You might try this…..before I move on from “ideas with books” let me suggest a fun little spot.

I like to stack a few books and use them as a little surface to hold a coffee cup, or a small potted plant, just something to accent a corner or next to a bed or chair.

        It is simple and easy.  Of course, if you can find some great old books with a good patina, all the better.   

What helps the look of this whole room is the fantastic rug under this antique French bed.  And I love the use of a rich coral velvet spread.  Gives it a little feel of luxury. 

         Why not?!!!

We recently were published in a book called “SMALL STORES”.  It is a coffee table type book of small retail stores from all over the world!  They are from New York, Paris, New Delhi, Chili, and on and on…..  and ours.  We submitted Lakeland Optical here in the Fondren area, Jackson, MS.  It was accepted and I am thrilled.  It goes in book stores this week. 
 This is the cover.  We are on page 72.  a two page spread.  So exciting!

This past weekend I drove to Ocean Springs, MS,  for the annual regional A.S.I.D. conference for Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana.  Saturday night was the Awards Gala.  We won!  –The Silver Award for the HOSPITALITY catagory.  This includes hotels, restaurants, casinos and, I think, clubs.  Our Hampton Inn & Suites in Wiggins, MS won the Silver.  It was the only hotel mentioned.  I am so so very proud of this!  Thank you, Jackies International, for having faith in me and my staff!

Lots of circles, comfort and practicality, with soft beauty.

New Kitchen Project – casual, simple

Here is the latest kitchen project that we have completed.

 
I love this one.  It is so casual and simple.  Yet, it truly took a lot of work.  It was a total gutted space.  We just removed the back of the house, did a total redo of the existing kitchen and added a great room with wrap around porch. 
 
I’ll show you more photos later.  I love the client’s family pieces mixed with flea market finds and antiques.

Latest retail – tight budget, plenty of charm

This was a fun, quick retail boutique here in Jackson.  We worked on a tight budget, and we gave it a lot of charm.  There was nothing there at all, not even a floor.   The client is very happy.   I’ll show you a few more photos when we get the final shots from our photographer.
